Convention Center and Arena   The overall development site for Qwest Center Omaha spans 422 acres, which is approximately 100 city blocks. The facility opened in September 2003 and contains more than 1,100,000 square feet, including a 194,000 square foot exhibition hall, more than 63,000 square feet of meeting space and an 18,300 seat arena. The site includes approximately 4,500 parking spaces, including a 3-story, 500 stall parking garage attached to the arena portion of the facility.    The Henry Doorly Zoo, Lied Jungle and Scott Aquarium attract millions of visitors a year. The Lied Jungle is the world's largest indoor tropical rainforest, encompassing three separate geographic zones. Visitors experience the sights, sounds and smells of the jungle as they meander through re-creations of Asian, African and South American rain forests. A path along the jungle floor winds along streams and past waterfalls. An elevated walkway takes visitors through treetops and offers a glimpse of jungle wildlife including free ranging birds and primates, as well as reptiles and other mammals characteristic of jungle habitat. The 72,000 square-foot Scott Aquarium is one of the country's largest. Visitors can walk through a glass tunnel in a 850,000 gallon coral reef tank and view marine life, including sharks and rays. The largest private collection of Americana anywhere.   The Pioneer Village complex comprises 28 buildings on 20 acres housing over 50,000 irreplaceable items of historical value, restored to operating order, arranged in groups and also in the chronological order of their development. There are 12 historic buildings around the circular "green". There's a Frontier Fort, a real honest-to-goodness Pony Express Station, an Iron Horse, and a home made of sod. There's a general store and a toy store, chock full of all the goods from yesteryear. An original art collection including 25 Currier and Ives prints, 23 Jackson paintings, and the largest single collection of Rogers statues. You can ride a priceless steam carousel, see 17 historic flying machines and marvel at 100 antique tractors.    Riverside Zoo provides fun and informative programs for people of all ages. Zoo staff and trained volunteers offer a variety of animal and conservation education programs and can tailor programs to suit specific needs. Education is a primary mission of the Riverside Zoo and the Education Department reaches nearly 10,000 children and adults annually. In addition to opportunities here on site, our outreach efforts extend north to South Dakota, west to Casper, Wyoming and east to central Nebraska. Volunteers donate hundreds of hours to give tours, teach day camps, host birthday parties and bring animal ambassadors to schools and community organizations.
